What counts as a check
A check is one passage submitted and judged against the passage above it. That is the only thing in BranchBook that costs us money to run, which is why it is the thing with a number attached.
Word counts are checked here on our own servers and cost nothing, so a passage rejected for being too short never touches your allowance. Neither does drafting, autosaving, reading, or exporting. Most people writing steadily use somewhere between 100 and 300 checks a month, so 1,500 is set well above ordinary use rather than at it. The count resets at the start of each billing period.
The free trial
14 days of everything, no card, 50 checks. It is enough to build a few layers and find out whether the method suits how you work.
Nothing is charged unless you decide to subscribe. The trial runs out on its own instead of turning into a bill.
Cancelling
Cancel whenever you like. It takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, so you keep writing until then.
Afterwards you can still open every book you wrote, read it, and export it to Word. That does not expire. We are not going to hold an unfinished novel hostage over $9.99.
Refunds
If you change your mind within 14 days of a charge, email support@branchbook.ai and we will refund it in full. You do not have to give a reason. The Refund Policy has the details, including what happens if something goes wrong on our end outside that window.
Who you are buying from
BranchBook is run from Grinnell, Iowa. Payments are handled by Paddle.com, who act as Merchant of Record for our orders. That means Paddle is the seller on the receipt, they collect and remit sales tax and VAT wherever you happen to live, and the charge on your statement comes from them rather than from us. We never see or store your card details.
Before you subscribe
Your manuscript belongs to you. It is stored in Germany, it is never used to train anything, and the only time any of it leaves our servers is when you submit a passage to be checked.
